The
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and
independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect
the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide
them with assistance. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and
strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
The ICRC Delegation
to the Philippines is looking for suitable candidates to fill
the following vacancies:
COMMUNICATION OFFICER
Under the overall direction of the
Communication and Cooperation Delegate, the Communication Officer contributes
to the analysis, planning, management, implementation, reporting and
monitoring of communication activities related to the prevention, protection
and assistance objectives established by the ICRC in the Philippines.
The Communication Officer also
contributes to departmental tasks including, but not limited to environment
scanning (media monitoring) and communications product & tool
development.
MAIN TASKS:
He/She
will:
· Ensure an efficient
implementation of ICRC preventive action support to military armed forces,
the national police, and academic circles.
· Assist with the
implementation of preventive action activities, projects, and programs in
support of other target audiences, including but not limited to national
authorities, civil society organisations, and the Philippines National Red
Cross (PNRC).
· Liaise with external
interlocutors both directly, and through the hierarchy with ICRC delegations
elsewhere in the region and at Geneva headquarters.
· Prepare project and
program budgets in respect of agreed action plans and ensure that financial
and administrative procedures are followed in accordance with ICRC norms.
· Contributes to written
reporting on a weekly, periodic and project basis.
· Contributes to the
development and production of dissemination tools
· Contributes to planning
and budget follow-up
REQUIRED PROFILE:
· University degree preferably in communication, law, social studies,
political science or related courses
· Fluent in written and
spoken English and Tagalog
· Excellent communication
and presentation skills
· At least four years of
related experience
· Very good analytical and
writing skills
· Organizational /
facilitation skills (re training programs and conferences)
· Very good computer
skills
· Driving license
COMMUNICATION AND
COOPERATION SECRETARY
The
Communication and Cooperation Secretary works under the supervision of the
Communication and Cooperation Delegate. He/She performs general secretarial
duties within the department.
MAIN TASKS:
He/She
will:
· Arrange appointments for the staff members
of the department within and outside the organization
· Maintain the department's calendar/agenda
· Manage the department's filing system to
remain current and easily accessible
· Coordinate and manage the correspondence,
keeping appropriate records of such communications: This may include
reviewing, proof reading, editing and translation
· Make the necessary copies for distribution
to the staff members
· Prepare the necessary documentation for
meetings
· Write minutes of meetings
· Handle external correspondence to interlocutors
of the department
· Exchange information, as required, with
ICRC office in Davao and antenna in Zamboanga
· Supply the department with required office
material
REQUIRED PROFILE:
· Bachelor level or equivalent degree in secretarial , social studies or
related courses
· At least three years of
related experience
· Good command of written
and spoken English and Tagalog
· Very good computer
skills
· High level of
organization and attention to details
· Good working relations
and ability to work in an international and multi-disciplinary team
· Flexibility and
commitment in times of emergency
Assets:

Previous experience working within
